Ring out the old - ring in the new!

2010 went out with a very cold and bleak end to the year which did affect deliveries but hopefully they did not cause you too much inconvenience. Starting 2011 off with the increase in VAT is not a welcome New Year's present either! On a brighter note - you may have noticed that we have changed the appearance of the e-newsletter - I hope these changes meet with your approval. The modifications have been introduced to make it easier to get straight to the article that's of interest to you with the 'quick link' at the top of the page. Plus there is now also a direct link from the product article to the manufacturer's datasheet hosted on our website. There are also plans to give our website a make-over - hopefully within the first quarter of this year. We'll keep you posted via this regular mailer. If there are any suggestions or changes that you think would improve the newsletter - just let us know - we would welcome your feedback!

John May - golfing great!

John May, Pro-Vision's Regional Sales Manager for the South East was on top form recently when playing in the Videx Security's 13th Annual Charity Golf Day. John "El Bandito" May was both the singles and overall winner of the competition held at the Old Ford Manor Golf Course in Hertfordshire. Over 70 golfers supported the event which raised a fabulous £9,256 for The Bobath Centre for Children with Cerebral Palsy. Well done John - looks like all that practice is paying off!

Bosch DVR/Monitor offer extended

Good news! Bosch have been running a promotion for Pro-Vision to offer a special price on their 19'' TFT monitor when purchased with the popular 400 series 4 channel DVRs. The good news is that Bosch have kindly extended the promotion - and the even better news is that the offer now also includes the 8/16 channel 600 series DVR range. More details are available from the sales team.

Samsung launch 43x network PTZ dome

Samsungs new SNP-3430H network PTZ dome camera includes an impressive 43x optical zoom capability to allow operators to observe close up detail of far away people or objects. Air and sea ports, car parks and sports stadia are just a few of the applications that will benefit from the SNP-3430H’s 3.2 – 138.5mm focal range which allows operators to view 600 TV line colour images of both close-up and far away objects. The SNP-3430H, which is weather proof to IP66, is equipped with an extensive range of features, including Digital Image Stabilisation (DIS), to help combat excessive vibration from strong winds if the dome is mounted on a pole or a tall building. Incorporating Samsung’s A1 DSP chipset, the dome also benefits from the use of Progressive Scan technology which prevents blurring on playback of fast moving subjects and Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) technology, that can balance images in challenging lighting conditions.

Computar release new HD megapixel lenses

Computar have released a new range of 1/2.7'' High Definition (HD) megapixel lenses with a unique optical design ensuring optimal performance when used with HD cameras. Designed from the ground up, they capture the precise detail that is vital for security applications. High quality optics maximize performance providing a sharp picture in both the centre and corners of the image plane. By enlarging the image circle design the series is fully compatible with 720 and 1080p 16:9 format as well as the standard 4:3 format. Computar have also modified the focus mechanism to allow for more precise focus control. Both manual and DC auto iris models are available.

Vigitron extend MaxiiCopper range

Vigitron expands its MaxiiCopper family with the introduction of the 8 and 16 port high speed Ethernet Extender hubs. The Vi2408 and Vi2416 are the industry’s first high density and rack mountable long distance ethernet solutions which provide an easy transition from analogue to digital CCTV systems using the existing coax cabling. When used with the MaxiiCopper Vi2401 Ethernet Extender at the remote end and the Vi2408 or Vi2416 hub at a central location they establish a full-duplex, full-rate ethernet connection up to 5,500 feet (1,680m) at 10Base-T or 2,100 feet (640m) at 100Base-T. The MaxiiCopper series consists of comprehensive solutions over coax cable as well as the ethernet extension over UTP cable. These products provide a simple and cost-effective upgrade path for a wide range of security and IT applications.
